I didn't realize that you guys on that side of the pond honored Veteran's Day on the same day we do.

Just got back from Remembrance Parade. As you may know I am quite involved with the local Sea Cadet Unit and this is one parade that the CO makes compulsary for the cadets. We had 61 cadets marching through the town and then to church and onto the memorial service.

It is just one of those thing that I always make an effort for and it's good to get the kids involved as well.

We don't call it Vets day Freddy, we don't get a day off either (maybe you don't for this one, I forget) but we have always honored those that paid the ultimate sacrifice so that we might be here today, with a 2 minute silence and a number of parades/celebrations around the country

It's considered a "minor" national holiday here so most of us don't get the day off. The Postal Service does however, so no mail until Tuesday.

Amen to that. I make a habit of stoping whoever I see in uniform these days and thank them for dedication and my freedom. Most time they are surprised, but you can tell they appriceate it. This makes me sad because it means enough people are not doing it.

Well in that case Lemme first thank our very own BosonMichael for your service, hard work and dedication.

We here in Guyana celebrate it as "Rememberance Day" and most people wear lapels in the form of the Poppy flower (pictured at top) the week leading up to Rememberance Day. We also have Parades and ceremonies in rememberance of the event. Political leaders, military people and families of those who lost their loved ones in war, come and lay wreaths at the memorial monument.
