Keeping your skills sharp is a career imperative. For IT pros, certifications serve as a roadmap for development, providing the validation needed to navigate complex enterprise environments.

As we move through 2026, market demand is clear. Whether you want to master cybersecurity, project management, or modern cloud infrastructure, aligning your learning path with current needs is critical.

    Where to Focus
    • Project Management: Methodologies like PRINCE2 and PMP remain essential for delivering successful outcomes in complex projects.

    • Cybersecurity: Qualifications such as CISSP, CISM, and CISA are vital for leadership roles, while CompTIA Security Plus remains a standard for foundational expertise.

    • Networking: As digital infrastructure grows, credentials like Cisco CCNA and CCNP are increasingly valuable, especially with the addition of AI and automation skills.
    Planning Your Path
Choosing a certification is a major investment. To ensure your efforts lead to career growth, it pays to focus on the qualifications that businesses are actively seeking.

It's interesting that the main vendors and certifications they recommend have all been around a long time and probably would have been the in demand ones 10-15 years ago. That shows the knowledge they provide lasts and will be useful throughout your career.

Although they did not mention AI once, which on one hand is refreshing to not have to read about it in every article while on the other hand I wonder if it is because they have no AI training\certifications to sell!
