I thought this would be interesting to see the outcome. Many of times we hear forum members looking for new roles or fed up with old roles - lets put a bit of a positive element to your job.

This is simple, name 1 thing you like about your job.
    -----------------------------------------------------------------

Mine: The freedom to learn new technology with the support of the company. While not always available, they offer to pay towards exams/courses or at least give me the odd day off for any exams/revision.

IT is always changing, I'm glad my company can see the benefit of always learning.

Having a reputation good and strong enough that I can spend pretty much all day doing what I like and people assume it's work related

Um seriously... The pool table in the middle of the office.

Second thought, the people I work with who are really cool. How many people regularly shoot their boss and co-workers in the face on MW3 :snipersmi :).

There are a lot of things that I like about my current job, but it is in the past now, or at least it will be tomorrow at 5.30.
Things I will miss: the banter, alpha-geek's obscure but amazing fixes. Being part of a team rather than "management".
Things I won't miss: can you just confirm your date of birth before I reset one of the 30 passwords you've managed to forget this week.

One thing I like: I am almost autonomous. There is noone else in IT in an organisation of 50 people / 60 machines, so a lot of what I do is curiosity driven.

Things I dislike: noone to learn from, noone to bounce ideas off. Being called in when I am leave because BT have severed the line again (despite there being clear guidance on what to do in such an event), and chiefly amongst most things: being treated like dirt by people who can barely use a computer, and then question your every decision.

hmmm, got any jobs going? :)

My job is ok, but I have no security, the pay is poor seeing as I am the ICT Tech, Trainer and Supervisor but the thing that really grinds my gears, is there is not any appreciation even though I created the departments first Knowledgebase, but hey ho
