I know that most of you will not know that I am an active member of our local Sea Cadet Corps. I am on the Management Committee that deals with the running of the Unit.

Now we won the trophey or the "Best Unit in the Eastern Area" back in November but as of today TS Laforey is the best sea cadet unit in the UK beatign 5 others in the uk, who were i the competition.

can't believe that we've won this

Just thought I would share this with our small community.

Now lie back and bask in the glory. [IMG]

I was in the army cadets for about 5 years, and all i ever won was a shooting trophy lol [IMG]

Thanks for sharing that, nice to find someone else here that knows something about the cadet force, although different service's. [IMG]

Cheers guys. The work put into winning was all a team event. The Kids really excelled themselves on the night (last Tuesday), the whole of the half term was used up working at the Unit ny the staff and an aweful lot of parents.

Both of my kids go there, Stuart 13 and Lara 10. Stuart is an Ordinary Cadet soon to be promoted and Lara is in the Junior section.

Still can't believe it especially as the winning margin was 1 point [IMG] from Reigate. I believe the Scottish entry (Stonehaven) was also in the running as well.

    Thanks a lot [IMG]

ps I think I was a bit "overserved" at the bar last night but can't remember who by. [IMG]

Well I've been searching for this post for ages, for a specific reason.

Inspection time again for the Sea Cadets in Northampton. Again we won the best Unit in the Eastern Area and are in the running for the best in the UK again.

To win the Area Competition once is great, to win it twice in a row is just amazing. There have been only 2 other Cadet Units in our area to have achieved this since the 1940's.

Our Inpection is on Tuesday, but this time we won't find out until a fortnight's time. To win the BIG prize 2 years in a row is unheard of, but whatever happens, Northampton is on the map again as being one of the top 6 Sea Cadet Units in the UK. Not bad out of 400 Units in total :D

Well the inspection went very well, the kids really pulled things together.

I found out the result yesterday at 10.30am from the unit chairman that Northampton came 2nd.

That IMHO is a great result even if we did win it last year. For the kids to win it and then maintain the standards they set is just fantastic.

A couple of the cadets were upset, but as I told them, Northampton had won some bling and now all the inspections are over you can get down to doing what you do best and that's being Sea Cadets not on parade all the time.

Thanks for all your support guys and if you are interested the web site is HERE

It is a bit out of date (not maintained by me).

Brilliant AJ - getting 2nd is a big ask. It shows your charges are really up to the mark to maintain serious standards over 2 years.
