    hi,
long time no post! I see things are ticking along nicely here!

We are planning to offline two ageing 2003 servers which are only serving a DFS share now to a 2008 environment - belong to same domain.

Is it just a matter of adding the file services role to the new servers, pointing it to the namespace and then replicating the share over?

    Thanks! :)

    Hi Boycie

I did it a slighty different way in that I copied the data over to the new machine and set the share permissions. Then using the DFS MMC I added the folders as targets of the DFS links and then removed the old targets.

No idea if thats the correct way of doing it but it worked.
