I've noticed that many small offices and home labs now use a mobile data connection as a failover option when their primary broadband link goes down. It seems like a practical and affordable solution, especially for remote work or keeping essential services online during ISP outages.

One thing I realized while setting this up is that the SIM used in the backup router should be properly activated and registered before deployment. I came across information about smart sim registeration, which explains the registration process and the importance of keeping the SIM compliant so mobile data services remain available when they're needed most.
