    Hey Guys,

Found a cracking link whilst researching RAM for a job I have on at the moment. My initial quest was to find out if you could mix CL2 and CL3 SDRAM - found this great page below:

Can I mix different RAM types ?

    HTH someone.

Basically, I have a PIII box that currently has 128 Mb PC100 SDRAM in it, and I want to double this so it can run XP. I can can get PC100 from Crucial, but to buy the same in PC133 is actually a tenner cheaper, so I wanna go for that. Can't see a problem mixing them, as I've done this before on the servers at my old place, but it pays to make sure first. At the end of the day, the customer is paying, so if I have to pay more, it means it's passed on anyway :)

EDIT: I just found I have a stick of 128 Mb PC133 SDRAM here that I'll test this out with it first of all. Good way to know for sure :)

I was always hesitant to mix types of RAM and RAM speeds.
That article was very informative, Gav, thanks again! :)

you might be alright on a P3 Gav. It has happened to me twice on P2 machines where i thought i was being clever by plopping a PC133 stick and it won't work. An E-bay bid later and a stick of PC100 they are still going strong :biggrin

XP is very s.........l...............o.............with 256 mind! :blink
