Mid Year Review: Goals for 2024 - Setting

Ok, a little past the 50% waypoint, more like the 75% waypoint... But better late than never

Anyway, how is everyone getting on with their 2024 goals? Have they changed? Have you completed all of them? Have you given up?

From the original thread, these were mine:

1. This has now been completed (and passed).
3. Yes, I am now a 4th Dan Black Belt in Tang Soo Do (Korean karate)
4. This was already completed...

As for 2, I am putting this on hold. I am not sure if I want to do this at this moment in time. But this has been replaced with the goal of starting the T803 MSc project: researching in context in November.

So how has it been going for all of you?

Excellent work as always Ken. You've done amazing on your post grad work. Great to see you get more from CompTIA too, I do love their certs and should do a few more myself, I will do.

Huge congratulations on the 4th Dan, tha'ts some going and I'm sure took you what, 10 years plus?

From the start of the year. A lot has changed!

I need to set some really smart goals for next year. My initial plan would be...
1. Gain the next level of Google certification, the Cloud Engineer cert. Didn't do this and likely won't now due to a change in employer
2. Gain the VMware Certification Implementation Expert (VCIX) by passing the advanced design and deploy certs, so 3 certs to get. Sadly now won't ever get this. Now that I've left VMware, and the changes that are being implemented by Broadcom I feel mean the total number of customers and therefore roles will reduce in the industry, I'll not seek to gain this. It would have been nice but it wasn't meant to be. It's great tech and I'll always be interested, but I doubt I'd ever work on VMware tech again now that I've moved to ServiceNow. I have enough to learn over here!
3. Continue to learn Spanish on duolingo. Just passed the one year mark on Duolingo and still doing it every day, delighted I've finally stuck to it!!
4. Lose 2 stone! Not sure how I'll do this and it'll no doubt be the hardest challenge for me, but I'll hold myself accountable. My weight sadly continues to be something I can't master, still overweight :S

New goals for 2024!
1. Gain ServiceNow CSA certification
2. Continue to learn Spanish on Duolingo
3. I'll put lose weight, perhaps I will as I'm on holiday in January, but I won't hold my breath based on past performance!
4. On the job training as I've essentially started all over again at ServiceNow, a move I love and really enjoy. Wildly different to microsoft and vmware but loving the change
