I prefer a book to a screen for reading wether it be dumping or otherwise. Also there is less chance of electrocution from the book. :)

To you people saying you would throw out an app with MCSE cert but no world experience, wouldnt you do the same for an app with no certs AND no real world experience? Dont get me wrong, I dont think you would ever hire them for anything more then a jr. IT admin which just resets passwords and such, but wouldnt having a hard to get cert like MCSA/MCSE show that the kid is really pushing to be the best he can be? Its not like you got to pay him anymore and he will learn the things he needs to know 100x faster then some tony the jabroni with just a A+.

Anyways I goto a very good school and before I graduate I will have taken enough MCP courses (and have enough lab experience) to pass all the exams required to have atleast an MCSA. Considering how cheap the tests are I plan on getting it. Are you telling me that you would throw my app away just because I took the time to take the cert tests? Even for entry level jobs?

Yes, I would, and here's why. According to Microsoft, an MCSE should already have the following experience:

So what would an employer think if you hand in a resume for an entry-level job that shows you have an MCSE, but no experience?

    1) This guy must have braindumped his way through these exams because he doesn't have any real world experience (doesn't matter if you did or not... that will be the perception).
    2) Look at this guy's certifications! He's probably going to expect a lot of money (and then trash your resume without even calling - yes, that happens).
    3) Look at this guy's certifications! Sure, we could hire him, but he'll probably end up leaving for something better or more advanced or for more money in just a few months, and we'll have to train up someone else for the position... hiring him is too big a risk for us to take.

I'm trying to tell you what people who are already in the industry and hiring people for entry-level jobs are thinking: certifications without experience are not useful. You can believe this advice, or you can ignore it. But before you ignore it, I would ask you to read the testimony of two people who finally realized I was right: link

If that doesn't do it for ya... you'll have to learn it on your own.

Well if your not in school, then obviously work experience is the way to go while you work on your certs. For me however that is not an option because school is full time. So until I graduate in a year I cant really get any. But by the time i graduate I will have an mcp, ccna and probably part of my ccnp at the least. I wont be able to help it, the cert tests are so much easier then my professers tests from what I hear =P (and seen on the ccna)

If it ends up hurting me while finding a job, I guess I'll take the big ones off my resume. Its easier for me to get them now while im studying the material for school, rather then going back a few years later. Besides, the MCP ones are cheap when your going to school :)
