    :blink

I'm currently doing my CCNA, but would also like to do my MCSE 2003 is there an 'order' in which the studying and exams should be done/taken or is it a case of doing them in any which way i can???

Cisco have it all ordered ie, semester's 1,2,3 and 4 but I can't seem to find a prefered order of doing the mcse if there is one.

    Thanks

Whilst the CCNA is only one exam the MCSA/E is many that can be taken in any order that you like. You will usually find that most people start with the client ones, then the server ones, and then the product specific, or design ones.

I'm considering staggering CCNP and MCSA exams, 1 MS then 1 Cisco then 1 MS then 1 Cisco, not sure if this is wise or not but I'll play it by ear

I'm not actually taking the 284 exam. The info was on a piece of paper I found and I thought it was strange being in the middle.

    Actually, there isn't an order.
What you study usually reflects what you happen to be doing in the workplace. If you go to a classroom based course and study the MS curriculum you do 270 and 290 at the same time.

The jury seems to be out on if it is better to do 290 first then to specialise in all the little bits (like active directory) after, or if you should do the little bits first before you tackle 290. Everyone I speak to has a different opinion.

thanks for the help guys, I'm signed up to start at my local college in September on there MCSE course, but before I do I'm gonna be studying at home to try to get a head start, although I don't know how easy that will be as I'm focusing on my CCNA at the moment and as that don't finish til this time next year, the courses are gonna overlap, :blink ,still , I love a challenge (been married 15 years :cracking ) anyway, I've got the CBT nuggets mcse2003 pack http://www.cbtnuggets.com/webapp/product?id=251 and just need some good books now, to supplement the computer based stuff. Any Ideas ? ? ? ?

IMO i think take video training lightly especially with the ms exams.. better you buy books (ms press and sybex are the favs!) and then use google and the ms knowledge base for more info!

The video stuff is just as a supplement to the proper books and course etc... I also have the CCNA nuggets training DVD's to go along with my 'real' course work. I've found that when something has been explained on the CCNA DVD's its given me a proper understanding of what I'd read about the subject. Just having things explained in a different way (despite the american accent  ) has , on occassion, brought some clarity to some topics.
    thanks
