Have you ever wondered what happens when those space modules get sent up in the rockets to mars.

We only see the rocket dissapear into the clouds.

    Go here: http://mars.jpl.nasa.gov/mer/gallery/video/animation.html

Click on the top animation named "Rover Mission to Mars Animation"

To find out what happens next.

    PS:Turn the sound up. :D

Anyone see that prog on BBC 2 last night about Mars and the Universe based at Joderal Bank and the Isaac Newton Telescope on La Palma?

    Absolutly brill.

Don't wish to name drop, but my brother works as Head of Mechanical Engineering on the island dealing with installing THINGS (I don't understand what he talks about) on the telescopes. It must be a hard life living out there.

We went to see him last October and got to see the telescopes. AMAZING.

Check out http://ing.iac.es for further details.

Andrew you luck S$d.All that telescope stuff fascinates me.

I didn't watch the program last night coz I don't watch tele hardly but I decided to last night.

I ended up watching something on channel 4 all about physchics and that.

I love programs about science and that.I'm kicking myself that I missed the Isaac program.

Thanks for updating the URL, I was about to tell you it didn't work.

I'll have to preplan my tele schedule coz now and then there is something worth watchin.

    Oh well, my fault.

    Hi flex

My brother used to work for the Royal Greenwich Obseratory when it was based in Cambridge, but took a posting to La Palma when they were closing it (can't blame him). It is a treak to get over there as JMC only fly direct during the winter. We went and had to go via Madrid-Tenerife South-Tenerif North.

It took over an hour and a half to drive to the top of the mountain, but what a trip. The view was (to coin a phrase) to die for. Above the clouds in the sunshine looking over the whole island.

He managed to show us around the William Herschel Telescope and Isaac Newton. You just can't believe how big they are. He see this stuff every day but it was just breathtaking.

That's enough now Andrew, your making me sick with envy. :sick

Only jokin :D .That's ace mate, your a lucky guy to have done that and your brothers got a pretty good job as well.

Is he a scientist then or something?

I used to have a telescope but usually use my binoculars these days.

The moon in the last few weeks has been awsesome to look at.One morning it was bright orange, never seen owt like it (you can probably tell that I get excited about this sort of stuff).

When I'm a super duper, top elite, hideously overpaid IT guru then I plan to sort some kind of observatory out.Probably a few years away yet though.

    Thanks!
