twizz, I hope your girl is feeling better by now.

I don't know if you can get this where you are, but you should be able to order it online. It works great for coughing at night, where couch meds won't. I don't know how old your child is but if pretty small I would put it on their back instead of chest. This will take your breath way if you put too much on. I'm not sure how it works, But it does sooth the lungs and help them to relax. Joe has been so bad at times that I boil water and put some of vics in it and then put a towel over his head and the water. Do this at night. Never let them go outside with this on. It opens the lungs so much that it could cause phnoma. Sorry I know I spelt that wrong.

Also for fever you can chop up an onion and put it in their socks and have them slept with it on their feet. It will help to draw it out. Yes people I'm very serious. Old timers around here still do this and I've seen it work frist hand. Any way just a couple of tips for the next time anyone gets sick like that in the family.

    Hi Mitzs,

Thanks for asking. lil un is all better now so i'm back at work (groan bad timming as everyone else was off this week so i've had to manage the support alone).

Not sure what the stuff you were on about is as theres no link lol. I used to have something similar to VIC but stronger that could be used in the same way. Unfortunatley i can't remeber what it was called, but it was little crystals rather than a liquid or gel. But you do the same thing, drop em in boiling water and breathe the fumes.

Some how i don't think there'd be any way to get her to wear socks with onions in let alone sleep with them on!

    Hows the cooking going btw?

dang sorry about the link twizz. And I'm glad she is feeling better. They also have a baby vapor rub.

    http://www.vicks.com/3.0_VapoRub.php

I use the one in the round jar. I always buy a new one ever winter and though out the old one.

As for the onions, she will be sleeping not walking on them. I wouldn't give her a choice when it comes to her health. But that is up to you.

I'm cooking chicken and dumplings tonight.:D yum yum.

hmmm chicken and dumplings.... sounds nice. Try baking the dumplings in the oven (if your doin it as a stew) rather than in with everything else. If you get it right they come out crunchy on the outside but fluffy inside...

Maybe you could try it with oinions, but not the ones used as a cold remedy!

When it comes to my kids health i always try and make sure thier looked after (ie doped up) when needed, and the lil un likes the smeel of vic, so getting her to use that is easy. As they both hate onions that could be harder even if it is only to sleep with.

use sweet onions if you have them there. Or the purple ones. They are not real pugent. Socks will help with the smell, if you have to double sock them. :biggrin I'm glad you have vics there then. I know it is a life saver when joe ends up with bronchisits. Yeah I know spelt it wrong again. Dam my fingers!:biggrin
