Hi All

I have just renewed Certforums server hosting for three years, which reminded me to thank you all for being a part of Certforums which has been around since 2003, making us over 18 years old!

While it might be said that IT certification has declined in recent years, I think it is also fair to say that IT certification will always be a part of the IT industry, with professionals looking to test their skills and to boost their CVs and job prospects by following the blueprints laid out by the likes of Microsoft, AWS, Google, CompTIA, VMware to name but a few.

I hope that you will continue to visit our little corner of the internet, and to interact with each other and help and support each other on our career journeys, and hopefully make a few friends along the way.

I couldn’t not keep the old place running I think. 18 years is amazing really. The place isn’t as busy as it once was but I still love to see people post and make friends. Still some great IT certifications to go after too

I remember when SiFor first posted on the NITLC forum he had started the forum and I went over to see what it was all about. Didn't join for a few days as I hadn't been a member of a forum before and wanted to see what went on.

Heres to another 18, although I will have long retired by then

 

Crazy isn’t it. The years are flying by. I remember when I first found this place. I was obsessed with it. Everyone wanting to get their MCSE. I couldn’t stay away

 

Just a change in the times I guess. Loads still sit them but I think it probably is reduced numbers. That said mate, like certification in general, we are here to stay. Thanks for popping in

Yes - the "pass MCSE and get a £30k job (or whatever it was)" are long gone now but plenty of certs to go for.

 

I remember back in the day, dreaming about getting my MCSE, it took me ages, and 8 exams, some of which I failed first time so probably more like 10 or 11 trips to the test center, no remote proctoring back in the day, all so that I could get a few grand more. Mad how your salary expectations change over the years isn't it

 

Thank you mate, it’s a unique place for sure. It’s like a little virtual hang out for me. I’ve met all of you here, that makes it worth it to me

 

Even the whole training provider thing was bizarre looking back – remember a few people being happy they could get MCSE and CCNA for the same price as just the MCSE by going to a different training provider. I don’t think they realised how much commitment was needed to pass all these certifications and not just how cash you could throw at them.

 

Yeah and so many dodgy training providers. Remember when people would go to India for two weeks to pass it all. I didn’t know anyone who did that I just remember people saying it was a thing. Crazy
