I have Mike Meyers All-in-one guide for the A+.

    It's the 4th edition.

The latest edition is the 5th edition.

I think the 5th edition covers XP.
    The 4th edition covers Win9x and Win2000.

I use XP Pro a lot and can find my way around it ok, I mean it's pretty much like 2000 anyway.

My question is, do you think i need the latest edition, as I don't want to get into the exam to be confronted with questions I haven't even studied.

Then again it's more money which I could do without spending.

I may not be the best person to answer this, but I'm here now, so I'll have a go...

I'd suggest checking the CompTIA site (sorry, I know the links around here somewhere), and compare the current exam requirements on there against those stipulated in the edition of the book you currently have. I'd imagine that there may be a few updates, but I'm sure some minimal research around the Net (us first, mind :x ) should get you fully up to speed with the latest developments.
