BSC Bachelor of computer Science or could be Information Technology would be normally 3 years at Uni whereas Higher National Diploma is 2 years at Uni or a higher/further education college.

Higher National Certificate is also 2 years but is usually is more in-tune with a course designed around becoming a tradesman where you would get day at college and the rest of the week at a work place.

I have a HND I couldnt afford an extra year at Uni to top it up to a full degree

Ah, gotcha, thanks for the explanations. I've got a BS, but it's not listed.

I joined the Association of Information Technology Professionals for a year, but to be honest, it wasn't worth the $120ish/yr to be a member, PLUS pay for the meetings on top of that (and to make things worse, when I joined, they put my e-mail address on their crawlable Web site in the New Member section, and I started getting spam! ). That said, AITP is good for networking with other techs if you're just starting out.
