To say Hi and I am still alive, just extremely busy with work / life!

In December, we have 18 staff in IT. IT Director, Jira Specialist, couple of Sys Admin's, a few Helpdesk guys and some Desktop Support. By end of January, we were down to 10 IT staff and by end of March....we had 4 IT across the world. The US has law where you can resign with 2 weeks notice. The IT Director left in December...then most of the team followed!

To say its been stressful is an understatement. The four of us powered through till June, we got a new IT Director and more staff so the ship was steadied. I then got a promotion to Systems Engineer I (No idea what the I stands for but hey) and a good pay increase so that was cool.

End of July, we were told the company is up for Sale, September, we were told there is a buyer and end of September, the deal went through. "There will be no immediate changes" was the line we were spun, 2 weeks later, 200 people were made redundant.

Thankfully, (and for the time being) Im being kept on. We have now moved to a new office and coming into the office twice a week. We are currently working on migrating systems over to the new company and will see what happens.

Apart from that, not much. We went to the Maldives for a couple of weeks in May and it was AMAZING. It was like a real life bounty advert. The problem with that is that I now need to lose all the weight I put on. To help with this, Ive signed up for a half marathon in April which Im regretting already!

Certs wise things have taken a back seat. I had planned on a Linux, Python and new AWS cert by now but what with work, that hasnt happened. Im really hitting the Linux+ at the moment though and HOPE to have Linux+ AND an AWS cert by Christmas. We shall see.

Its cool mate. Im still getting paid and Im still working on Certs., Made my profile public on LI to recruiters as Im looking to get into Dev Ops (Hence Python, Linux and AWS). Had some good feedback but Im not in a rush so I can take my time and find the right job (Unlike when I took my current role during COVID).

Ah totally mate, think the kids will have a fantastic time. We went to an Adults Only resort but I was looking at the Family Friendly resorts and they look amazing. Check out the Hard Rock Hotel in the Maldives. Its massive!!!
