Job interview on Friday (11/04/2008)

    Hi Guys/Gals,

    Thought I share some of my good news: I've got a job interview on Friday at my local council :)

    I've nervous (thanks Modey) about the process. I will be interviewed by the IT Director, IT Manager and IT Service Manager and be given a technical test. While I know that I know my stuff that I use in my organisation, some of the technology that they use I don't, like: Citrix, SMS/MOM & Linux, etc.

    I know that if I get the post, great... If I don't, this will be great experience as I haven't had an interview in the last 4 years (I didn't need to as I was quite happy in my current job).

    Oh well, if you can, cross your fingers for me :)

    Isn't it about time the US took on our date format to stop all this confusion ;)

    Good luck for friday mate, I dont know if you seen my post or not, but I had an interview last wednesday and got offered the job, so lets hope things go as well for you.

    Don't know? What is your job title/responsibilities? Currently mine is IT Network Manager at my place of work (which is a school), the job interview I'm going to on Friday is for the ICT Services Network Manager post at the council.

    By the sounds of the job is more technical with less "overall" IT responsibility (as there is something like 3 people above the vacant post), eg no project planing, budget planning, etc... But I could be wrong.

    Ahh, it sounds like the role you are going for is for the 'corporate services' part of the council. I work for the 'Education' side of things.

    My Job title is Support and Development Officer, whilst I don't directly look after any of 'our' kit I do go into schools and look after theirs. the role varies on a daily basis as to what I do, one day I'll be out giving support and advice on new solutions or products, the next I'll be doing quotes for kit. Some days I go out and fix problems, some days I stay in the office and do 'development' work (learning, well 'playing with' the latest and greatest new technologies).

    best thing about it is that it is so varied! 8)

    So actually it sounds nothing at all like my job at the council! :biggrin
