Im about to embark on a module through uni in java, ive never touched java before but i have done visual basic before, which i found a bit of a tough one, especially when you ask the tutor a question, and all i got was read your book or look on the slides etc.

Out of 10 how would you rate it to get into, is it better than Visual basic(which is now visual studio i think).

And doe anyone have any tips for books i should get that start me off rigbht at the bottom and then work my way up? The way i work is when i dont know anything about a subject its best to talk to me in simple english rather than diving head first, that way i can absorb alll the info and then build on that etc.

    Thanks in advance

I found the Headfirst book on java programming to be a good beginners guide to not only Java but OOP.
