We should be a fairly safe bunch in IT.
We sit at a desk, stare at a screen and eat buns (or whatever's your poison).
Apart from going blind or getting a case of RSI you couldn't be in a more protected environment, it's not like being on a building site, right?

Last week I broke my fingernail while moving a server and cut my finger open installing a CPU fan.

OK, that's fairly pathetic (it hurt), but it got me wondering, what's the worst IT-related accident/ingury that you've ever had?

A Paper Cut from loading paper into a printer! :p

Actually I think it's carpet burns (no smut please) from crawling around under desks when installing PC's.

EDIT: I just noticed that this is my 1000th post! Yippee! :blink

I was carrying a case between student's rooms in the shared house where I live, and fell down the dog-leg of some stairs because I couldn't see properly where I was going

I'm starting to feel like a tough guy.
    Mine had blood!
I had to put a plaster on it and everything.

Come on guys and girls, something really nasty must have happened to someone?

    Crushed beneath a falling server?
    Electrocuted by an externsion cable?
    Exploding monitor?
Set fire to a building by plugging in too many trailing sockets?

    Let IT not be gay!
    Start causing some accidents...

Repetitive Strain Injury. Caused by doing the same action over and over (commonly things like typing).

I like to say that every PC I have ever built has had blood and sweat go into it, literally
i find the PCI slot covers as well as the case cover grounding contacts are fair game at that

i also did my back in carrying a catalyst 4513 without first removing the two 1100w power supplies (pretty much doubling the weight of the system) wasnt that bad, hurt like a mother though thehe

    blind as a bat, check
RSI, not a chance, my muscles are built for this shite now lol
stabbed myself on some rack rails a few times, can be painful
also almost dropped a Proliant 4500 on my toe, that would of bloody hurt
    narrowly avoided it though :)

I ended up in hospital because I got hit in the eye with the side from a PC case, I was sat at my desk working on my laptop and the other tech here pulled the side of a PC and hit me in the eye with it. I had a scratch on my eyeball and had to wear and eye patch for a few days!!!!!!!

No explosions to report but opening up any piece of hardware usually results in minor cuts, scratches and scrapes.
