I have dual screen I want the taskbar at the bottom to appear on both screens? Is this possible without any special software?

With special software, yes: Ultramon, there are free ones out there, but not guaranteed to work with anything above XP.

I used ultramon at work until the trial period ran out, it was great because the programs on the right screen showed up on the task bar on the right screen, same with the left screen as well.

Thanks! I did not think there was a way to do it without 3rd party software :(

in all fairness I used to turn off the other taskbars anyway, i barely used them in previous versions of windows, i was more into ALT+TAB and such
I used Ultramon mainly for the extra switches to move between monitors (now hotkeys in Win7 by default) and other tweaks..

but with the win7 taskbar and apps that take advantage of it, this could be great, but as Hanselman says, neither of them are fully there yet :)

If your GFX Card supports it, you could just do a Horizontal Span (One Large Desktop, and you can define order of monitors), this seems to extend the taskbar throughout the screens - NVIDIA Quadro FX 1400 - not the best of cards, but works!

Yeah you can do that, but unless you have got two identical monitors with very thin bezels, then it will look gash. :) Even then it probably still will.

It seems to appear fine on two 22" CRT's, yes they are identical, and yes, my eyes do hurt from them!:p

What I mean is that it looks bad having a split between the two screens when it's meant to be a single one. Which is why having thin bezels helps.

Of course, it stands for Graduated Asyncrounous Screen Halo ... either that or it's just slang for 'horrible' etc... :)
