Have a look here. The main difference is that the 602 concentrates on the troubleshooting aspect and being able to configure the devices rather than just identify them.

That actually sounds more interesting and useful in the real world than 601 was. Is there a book specifically tailored for the 602?

Although the 602/3/4 are separate exams from the 601 they are continuations of the 601 "Essentials" exam.( The clue's in the name)

if you have the MIke Mieyers AIO and PC Technican street smarts by James PYles then you don't need anything else.

Is it a given that the 602 includes the 601 objectives? The 602 objectives doesn't mention things such as defunct processor sockets. I was really hoping the 602 didn't require such esoteric knowledge.

If you look at the sets of objectives for the two exams you'll see where the differences and similarities are.
As already mentioned, the 601 deals more with what is it?, why do you need it?, and where do you put it? whereas the 602 is more concerned with the configuration and optimisation once it is physically installed.

I wouldn't worry about processors sockets. If you get any questions on them it's very unlikely to impact on your pass/fail if you know your stuff in other areas.
