There will always be a web, how else would people communicate with each other? Unless the human race evolves so much in the next 50 years that we could all communicate telepathically.

It will be super-fast and free!

And it will be 100% dedicated to pr0n, rather than the poor 75% we have now.

And there will be so many pop-ups, ads and surveys on it, that it will be impossible to use.

    Go progress of mankind!

Dear Gods no! The less I use vocal chords the better, and I think I've forgotten how to write! My signature degenerated into a scribble years ago, it doesnt even roughly look like my name.

At least I havent tried to sign anything fergal1982 yet :biggrin

On topic, yeah its always going to exist in some form or another. It will likely become more advanced (hell, it might even develop so that neural interfaces exist for getting the data - now that would be cool!), but its always going to be around.

Have you ver seen The Matrix. You reckon it could be like that,or its already happened?

2012 is the polar reversal (NASA) so its not gonna last 5 years. The magnetic poles reverse ,big solar storm no more computers just good old fashioned talking and writing and stuff.:p

Ok, First off, No-one can accurately predict when a Polar Reversal will take place. And even if we could, there are many theories about what will happen. Best case scenario virtually nothing happens. Worst case, we experience an Extinction Level Event, at which point, who cares? we're all dead anyway! We'll only really know what happens when it happens (funny that, isnt it?)

If you honestly believe that a polar reversal wipes out computers and the internet, why are you wanting to get into the field? Surely you would be better off becoming a plumber or something? A trade that would survive the reversal?

In fairness to NASA, and science as a whole, I should really point out that NASA were talking about the Solar Polar Reversal. An event shown to happen every 11 years or so, at the peak of the sunspot cycle
