I have this computer that no longer starts uo

    Might be worth changing the IDE cable, or swapping it with the one used for the CD drive.

    Also if the CD drive and HD are on the *same* IDE cable then just connect one device. As already mentioned there may be an issue with jumpers settings.

    The hardware trainer in the army had the same trick. He wasn't that old :biggrin
    He also used this to "hear" if some switching devices (we call them relais, but not sure on the English word. one could discribe it as a mechanical transistor) would come in or not.
