It's good to know you're taking care of your body, that's one way to keep yourself sane during a depressing moment in life such as losing a job.

Public Cloud is big right now, and will be even bigger. I'm surprised you're not feeling the bite in NZ, but like you said, if you have a ton of people calling you up in AU and the like, it shows how much companies and recruiters are scrambling to go into the Cloud.

There must be some venue you can use to find the catch in NZ, something you haven't thought of yet. Either it's the particular cloud domain you specialize in that is already exhausted over there and you need to specialize further still, or you just keep missing the companies that are truly interested in it.

Some studies show that a majority of CIO's will have projects running in the cloud in the very near future (1-2 years down the line) and the business itself will grow many times over. From what I know, it's certainly keeping us busy over here, and I just specialize in O365 and some parts of Azure for the time being...

when I was employed I screwed up my chance to get another cloud role cause I said couldn't attend the final interview couple of times and they said they went with another candidate. There was a big IT company here looking for a public cloud consultant with my skills but it was a evil company.

I get calls from UK as well and the Europe,

in my last company all I did was nothing but office 365 and azure.

People if I play my self right can I make it rain?

    Hey guys,

So i had a interview last week and it went well they want me to come back for second stage interview.

This will be a technical interview lets see,

Also Australia called me for 0365 roles and i have a interview with their hiring technical managers. People in uk have being emailing me about 0365 roles in UK and went back and forth.

I specialised in 0365 and its in demand so they are looking for people who has being there and done it.

Finally some good improvement in my job search which is good,

in times like this all small wins are good,

small wins turn into big wins

    :)

    I had the interview

I could have done the technical stuff a bit better but think I did ok.

I couldn't answer stupid things I knew like

    how many bits in ipv6

and command to troubleshoot ad replication issues which I have used in the past called repadmin

others I was able to answer , I also missed one of the tricky questions they asked,

overall the guy was impressed with my o365 stuff and cloud stuff I will know in the next couple of days wheather I got the job or not. Its between me and 2 other candidates so lets see, 1/3 chance.

Even if I don't get it, I have an interview coming up for a firm in Australia, I specialised in nothing but office 365 for the last while, and have done tons of these projects, so these aussie companies are hitting me up, they ask for 8 years of large enterprise experience but since I have the office 365 experience they seem to call me cause its direct experience, lets see guys, lets seee

    no updates yet,

the interview I went to said they haven't decided as something came up and they needed to attend it, but that guy said that " I am still defenately in the short list" so the final interview stages one look a bit hopeful and I could even get it by his last email. Guys even if I do get it, I feel like it is not a step up for me rather kind of the same place.

The reason is that role is a intermediate level one which was what I did in my last role but I did some senior stuff. The salary will be a huge increase as I was underpaid and I could move into a senior role in that company as its growing but I specialise in office 365 and I believe I can get a office 365 architect or a senior consultant office 365 role else where but nz doesn't have these roles its in Australia and that's where I applied for and where I ring.

Lets see. At the end of the day I am a hustler and a risk taker.

The Australian company for senior consultant said they will ring me either Wednesday or Thursday, its Thursday already and its morning so ill wait. Looking a bit hopefull

    just an update.

So have some good news and bad news and the usual bull **** with job hunting.

So with the role that I had the interview for mid level sys engineer gig they said they are going to go with another candidate cause he was a bit stronger than me but if he wasn't there I would get the job. However the manager liked me so much that he is going to open up a new position for me :biggrin and it is also cause he heard someone in his team is leaving this week + there is a lot of work to come in the new years, so he asked for my reference details which I just provided him, he also said he will tell me this coming Friday or next week, so this is hopeful :biggrin

The bull **** aussie company said they went with a local candidate and said let them know if I am looking in 2015 but they said they have local people in the talent pool. I have a phone interview with a UK recruitment agency for a office 365 specialist.

So not going bad, lets see.

    hey guys just an update,

I am getting close like stated in the above message, one of the roles I didn't get since they liked me they are gonna create a new position for me but I will know at the end of this year or start of next so that's good and they asked for reference and stuff, I had a 3 hour interview today, I was a bit flaky and not too sure if I got that one but it was not that bad, I had a phone interview with Microsoft last week for a great role and they liked me, I have a second stage (final stage) interview with a different company in two more days, and I have a senior consultant cloud interview with a UK overseas company over the phone tomorrow.

so good progression there, getting close but nothing is secured yet, but getting close and I being unemployed for 2 and half months now,

Great progression - especially considering the time of year! Great work there, and best of luck with everything.

    hey guys,

    just an update,

so the second stage interview that I went to, I got a verbal offer which is not official yet, I should know officially once the salary has being discussed with the owner of the company, it was a 3 hour interview which I managed to do well, so that is good, but not official yet,. If it goes through I will have a salary of 37,000 GBP with 2,479.80 GBP bonuses which is a good salary.

the Microsoft one, though I did well in the phone interview they didn't get back to me so I emailed them for an update and they still didn't reply a couple of days later I saw the old advertisement being there plus a newer one of the role, so I don't know.

the uk phone interview I didn't do too well in the phone interview technical quiz, it was ok, some of the **** I should have known but didn't come to my mind but its ok,

another aussie company called me for a cloud architect role and asked when its a good time to talk,

all in all I am more optimistic going into the new year and I have 2 verbal offers (which are not official which means I could lose them)

    more to come guys.

they require 3 references of clients that i delivered projects to in my last organization, (which is cool)

they require two references from my old old place whihc i left like 3 years ago, none of the managers i reported to work there so i have to track them down not too sure even if they remember me, i found their current work place throug linkedin so i guess i could call their new work place and ask for them,

they also require a reference from my current place.

due to legal things i cannot say what happend with the company but it did not end well and now i am unemployed i cannot get a reference from the owners of the company

however one of their employees which i reported to when he was the manager said hhe can be my reference,

the manager that interviewed and offered me the job forgets alot of things and i told him in the interview thaht i did not like working thhere and thats why i left after resining 10 times lol and that it was a bad place to work for,

in the reference check email he sent me he asked if he can call the owners of the company and hhe found out their names (i guess he went to the home website)

what can i do guys am i screwed?

i being unemployed for 2 months now :(

Best thing you can do is not worry mate. It's out of your hands. I wouldn't worry about it, what will be will be, you'll get back into a role. You've had multiple leads there so something will pan out. I would imagine a good employer wouldn't let a previous employer put them off too much if they really want you mate.

yeah I will contact my references and double confirm the references,

this guy always forgets things as far as I can tell I told him in the interview too,

the reference from my current place is my old manager but not the owners and my last manager knows what I went through,

guys I deserve this I worked in a company close to 2 years where the turn over rates are high most people leave after 6 months, it took a lot of agony but I worked hard and didn't back down from a challenge and chicken out so I sticked through and grew, the only reason I did was cause I got good experience with the 0365 ****

but I do admit my behaviour in the end was not good an unhuman kinda but I am sorry

so I gave 6 references for one of the jobs last Friday,

hopefully they will hire me if the references clear out,

when I was writing about projects I did I actualy felt I have some woworth and I talked with old people I did the work for the clients and they were happy to talk to me,

I hope this company doesn't low ball me and I am not bragging but I have done good work and big projects for big companies I hope they pay me something that's good

you know the salary you pay specialists, if they low ball me I am out.
