I don't get it......

Basicly I don't understand my employers. As cabin crew :$ I'm restricted to 900 flying hours in any 12 month period. At the end of March, I only had 30 flying hours left, so they have been giving me a load of home stand by's (which don't count towards the 900 hour limit). That is fine, it drops my duty hours down ready for the summer. However, they keep changing my home stand by's into flights, not the short ones but the long ones, which is going to make me get 900 hours very quickly, therefore I won't be able to fly during the busy summer months. Personally, I don't mind, as I won't be on a plane full of kids. But there are loads of other people on home stand by's with alot more flying hours left that they could change onto the flights instead of me. Basicly, they will be another crew member down during the summer months, which is the bit that I don't understand.

Could they be planning to lay you off over the summer anyway and that's why they could be doing it?

 

Well I'm just stating the underhanded tricks some bosses use to get certain things done.

 

You might even be in line for a promotion, so they're getting their mileage out of you whilst they can!

 

There is a reason for everything, just speak to your boss like sparky commented.

 

Okay I'm not saying that anything under hand is a foot, that's just the cynic in me talking, had years of bosses feeding me BS, it does get tiresome after a while playing along with their little games
