    Hey folks, just found this place by the wonderful search of google :D

    Well I'm Richard, a former Mechatronic engineering student who's now wanting to pursue a career in IT, but with no real idea on how to get into it, as for why... no idea, but they were my strong point during my engineering course.

    Have contacted Computeach and got the bog standard letter and junk they send out, and was tonight contacted by their rep, who's going to send me examples of course work. Of course first thing was to do a search on feedback from other people to see what peoples views were and so far I can say "I aint that impressed" :dry .

    So thats my lil blurb, willing to take advice on different options or training other people have taken and had positive feedback from, and of course have a laugh :biggrin

    Hi Richard and welcome to the Forum.

    I guess now you've had a chance to look around the place and come to conclusions. Training provider / self study what to do. I think the first think you need to decide is 1) what do I actually want to do within IT coz IT is a mighty big place and 2) can I achieve this by spending a wedge of wonga or do it alone with some books, support and help from your new found friends.

    Consider your options and don't rush into paying a lot of money for something you might be able to achieve by other means.

    Thanks for the welcome guys!

    Already been browsing the forums and the web. Taking into account my relevant qualifications (2nd year of a degree) that is mainly hardware based I am eligble in some college's to take the CompTia A+ unit, of course this will cost, however in Scotland there's an added benefit of funding towards it, and employers can also pay towards this, so things are looking okish (I hope) :thumbleft
