If they're anything like the CompTIA certs, you might as well print one.

Paper certs are not sent out to you anymore, you can request to buy one or as you say download one but the welcome packs were stopped quite recently.

Microsoft says it's to save money.....sorry I meant the environment  To me it devalues the certs and is a stupid idea.

It comes from the US, goes through ground mail before airmail (via fedex) I believe, US ground mail can be a bit of a bottleneck sometimes from my experiance (my father worked in international mail and always used to get me summer jobs).

I have sent letters that have taken over a month to get to family in the US from UK

Who else other than yourself and family have asked to see your certificates?

Employers don't, they check online or ask for that certs list that you print from the backoffice!

Your cert is just a code at the end of the day, that says the valuable stuff is in your head.

I must admit i do like collecting certificates as trophies!!

Practically every employer I've worked for. Also it's the principle of it. If Microsoft are really doing this for the environment then they should deduct the cost off the exam and that way people who want a paper cert could add the cost back. That to me is fair not scrapping the paper certs and pocketing the savings.

The welcome pack is not sent out from the US I believe, mine was stamped in Sweden and took nearly 3 weeks. As said above they are nothing special, just a paper with MS logo and signed by Mr Balmer.
personnally I wouldnt pay postage for that.:)
