There's a 1gb download limit for the whole bl**dy month over here n the speeds r f***in slow 40kbps down/10kbps up. However the downloads between 2am & 8am aren't charged so 1 can d'load as much as possible within that time limit. Perhaps the ISP isn't able to recruit neone for the graveyard shift to keep a watch on the up/downloads of its subscribers.

    Sandy,

there are plenty of programs that montor your bandwith, the one that springs to mind and is the one i use, called Netlimiter.

These programs are quite good at restricting bandwith, and montiros your limits, if your isp has given you a download limit, obviously, you dont want to exceed it, as some charge an amount for every mb/gb you go over...

Well it's only been a year since I could get ADSL and there is a 10GB cap on my account. So far I am just under half of that. With a 512/256 connection there are limits to what is possible. Give me a faster connection and I will rival Phoenix

I chose option 2, but after reading the whole of the thread it got me thinking that maybe it's more, as pheonix has said Vista is a 3GB download and if there are others things available it will be more than 10GB, as far as I am aware mt ISP does have a fair use policy, however they have never contacted me to inform me of a breach of this.

I voted for less than 5Gb also, as even tho I'm on an uncapped line, I really dont download a lot. Even when I still had a 2Gb monthly limit, I never came close to it. Mind you, now that I have my server running, I should really capitalise on it, as one of the reasons for doing it was so that I could leave a download running overnight as and when required.

In fact, tonight's mission is to get hold of Vista, methinks :)

Definately 70+ GB a month. Again depends whats available and how busy I am at work or uni (spending time on the net often leads to excessive downloading.

depends what mood I am in, sometimes I wont even touch 2gig however I belive I hit about 20gig in a the space of a couple weeks before, my limit is 40 gig which is classed as unlimited but subject to the fair policy act.
