I am wondering did you bother doing word and excel at specialist level or just go straight on to the expert exams?

I took the Word and Excel Specialist exams first for the practice, never having done any MS exams previously.

It did help that I wasn't paying for them myself :D

I have done MS exams before ,however, client exams which i believe are very different from the MOS

Yeah does help :) ..... i am paying for these i guess that's why i am asking to see if i can avoid take unnecessary exams.
I agree that they may be useful for practice, however, if they overlap...

I took them all about 3 years ago, but I don't remember there being any overlap - IMO the Expert stuff could be described as Power User material where the Specialist stuff would be Casual user.

I suppose it does make some sense to do them all, just costs more.

IMO it depends how well you know Excel? If you use it fairly regularly for your job I would say look over the Specialist material, but there is no need to take the exams.

On the other hand if you are only going to be learning the stuff specifically to take the exams then I would most definitely take them all.

The Master exams are a lot harder, and covered things I have never used, before or after (just like school exams ).
