You absolutely are... you're trying to justify why you think it's OK to steal Photoshop even though you can't afford it.

I can't wait until you start working in IT and you end up on the other side of the Intellectual Property fence... you'll start understanding when people start stealing from you. :dry

Yes BM is indeed correct but back to your issue.

If you would answer all of the info I have asked for then maybe you will get somewhere. From what I have read about your problems in your posts you do not have a virus you have a hardware issue and if you ask me you either have a psu issue or motherboard issue probably caused by a dodgy psu and now that dodgy psu is going to cause failures of other equipment.

Now I could be wrong but if you can post the info I have asked for previously:- what are your temperatures like, what are your voltages like? on the Vista machine.

with the laptop dvd drive are your codecs uptodate? have you changed anything?

Keygens are typically what you would define as a virus and these too are also illegal.

Dude... I'm not trying to "win". The only winners and losers here are you and Adobe. And you are fully in control in determining who wins and who loses in that battle. The only reason I mention anything is to give you a perspective that perhaps you didn't have before. You can choose to accept or reject my advice... doesn't matter to me either way.

It is a possibility that your virus problems were directly caused by your piracy. Hopefully you will choose a different path next time. Good luck in fixing your problem.

How would he get any of that info asked for other than maybe the temps if that information is available in his particular Bios? what good is a temp. reading on a machine that won't boot up and run. Am I missing something: he can't boot, can't get into the safe mode menu, can't get the bootable disk he has to work and now can't get his laptop to burn another.

The only thing I would know to do at this point assuming the OP doesn't have a mutlimeter is to figure out a way to get a bootable diagnostic CD and AV disk that he knows works or to start swapping out known good parts for suspected bad parts like the PSU.

I won't get into the right and wrong of the pirated software as that has been discussed over and over on this forum and others. I will mention that you are asking for trouble when downloading pirated software in regards to malware and you appear to be aware of that fact. There are places that deal with malware removal that will help the first time with malware removal if there appears to be settings and software associated with piracy. The second time they are out of luck.

well he never mentioned that there was no post screen so if there is he can get in the bios.

As for voltages he could use a multimeter or he could see if he can borrow a psu to try.

oh yeah I guess he might be able to read the voltages in the bios. didn't think about that.

This is a virus which was clearly binded to the keygen. It essentially renames the original winlogon.exe and replaces it with it's own winlogon. The black screen sits on top of the original winlogon and here is the situation.

You may try to hold alt and tab between the two screens and hit the delete key on either one until you succeed (if). I would imagine though that your system will be fully infected after login.

You haven't yet stated whether your have tried your Vista DVD on you laptop... I would asume your DVD boot problem is because you haven't extracted the iso correctly(or the download is corrupted).

So, test the disc, if needs be download ubuntu linux and boot off that and install, which is very simple, (USB or DVD) so you have at least a fresh, clean system in which to work with.

Sorry guys the boss (wife) has took over the laptop at the mo, to do Assignments. I only have access to my mobile. I've tried the alt tab option after researching the problem and this doesn't work. A friend is getting me a kaspersky hopefully tmo, so I'll try that then. Sorry if I don't seem to be following some of the advice, it's mostly due to my issues with access to a pc. I should have some answers tmo. Thanks for the advice so far (from everyone )

ok sorry for the late response to my kaspersky issue, im sure you have all been waiting with baited breath for the last 3-4 days...

please feel free to ignore this if you think i am just being lazy here and expecting you guys to do the work for me.

ive done the 12 HOUR LONNNG scan of my pc with kaspersky recue disc 10, but im now stuck for what to do now. i dont know if its something to do with the fact that my pc has now been on for around 15 hours or something to do with the virus but my screen has now frozen and the keyboard is responding at all and has no lights on. i have done some digging around on tinternet, and if im not mistaken i have to use the "my updates" tab. im now rambling so ill just finish by saying, please help and anyone that has used this disc before, could you please advised on my next steps. many thanks
