ok i suppose its time to admit that i had turned my av off temporally to allow a keygen to generate a key for photoshop cs5 that i cant afford to buy yet.

Still think it is a hardware failure rather than a virus fault. A lot of these keygens don't have viruses and this is checked during the downloading stages. Are you getting any beeps at all when starting the machine?

If you have another desktop I would maybe start testing other components if compatible.

yeah it beeps initially after post and then shows the realtek gigabit option to to change network settings. other than that it just goes black. i have a laptop that until now has had a perfoectly working disc drive, but very conveniently doesnt seem to be working properly. ive been trying to load a bootable av but the laptop is causing obvious problems putting this on disc and my desktop doesnt have usb bootable options. im now prepared to bite the bullet and check for hardware issues, but have to admit my inexperience in such issues. sorry if im missing bits of advise already offered to me or requests for info of greenbrucelee, its just that im trying to fit these visits on here inbetween limited breaks at work.

If you can't afford it then why not use another software package?

Is there not a trial version you could use?

Also CS4 seems to be available for £130

too late for the trial version already used up. if you missed the decimal point out of the £1.30 then thats fine but with a wife on maternity pay, there is no way of paying even that. anyway were going off the point now considering i still dont have a pc to put any program on :blink

ok im now thinking that ive got bad karma

im unable to get kasperky 10 as my laptops disc drive is playing up. does anybody know what this means(attached). ive never had a single issue with my (d) drive until now..
the issue also keeps freezing up the laptop and causing blue screen a few times while ive been trying different discs. dvd rw and cd rw. ive just tried a movie dvd in and it plays fine...

Looks like there is an input output error, try disabling the drive in hardware manager and then reboot and see if windows loads the drivers for it and see if it works.

what are the BSOD errors you are getting? if the system is rebooting before you can see what they are the do this: right click my computer > properties > advanced > startup and recovery > uncheck auto reboot

Doing this freezes the pc when their is a bsod meaning you have to manually press reset to restart the pc.

if you disabled the drive it's just going to be disabled! Wouldn't you have to uninstall the drive or the drivers to get windows to try and re-install them on reboot.

Good point, mybad. Uninstall the drive, reboot and windows should reload the drivers.

how do you mean system test?

If you mean checking ram - download memtest86 and run it with one dimm installed at a time for accurracy and run for several passes.

If you mean temperatures - always use the bios but if the bios is locked use hardware monitor or real temp

If you mean hard drives - use the hard drives manufacturers diagnostic utility

    PC stabilty test - everest

CPU stabilty test orthos, prime95 and OCCT (these programs push you cpu to the limit so be aware that you may end up with lots of heat generated and lots of strain on the syste).

Futurremark - tests stabilty of cpu and graphics aswell as some ram.

If it's worth using, it's worth buying. Otherwise, you're stealing it.

i agreen 100%, but the way i see it is that i will be making my career using most of adobe products. if i couldnt download them to begin with i simply wouldnt be able to do anyhting more than watch tuorials whilst saving up for a loooong time to buy the programs. this way may be ever so slightly dodgey, but i will get to a position to where i can pay for the genuine article much sooner. a greatly extended trial period if you will.

But... you can't legally download it. Doesn't matter what you'll be making your career doing. By your justifications, I can rationalize stealing a Ferarri because I'll be making a career racing Ferarris.

It's not "ever so slightly dodgy"... it's piracy, and it's against the law. :dry

Further, it's against the Rules and Guidelines on these forums, so don't bother trying to defend your actions. If you have a shred of integrity, man up and do the right thing.

I'm not trying to justify anything, I'm just being honest. I will be buying Photoshop and most of the other adobe creative suite.
