Come someone tell me how to backup to CD-r/w disks.
I read that XP can not backup to CD-R/W disks. But does allow you to do a direct copy. What is the difference anyway?
Also I have a folder with 11GB of music and video files I need to backup urgently. Does anyone have any suggestions. Should I use a third party software. If so which one?

    Need an answer today!

    Thanks

    Professor-Falken!

    Hi,
Best thing you can do is nip down the local PC shop and get a copy of 'Nero 6' made by Ahead software, it should cost from £5 to £30 depending on which version they stock, you may also want to grab some CD-R disks as 11Gb will be roughly 16 Disks which depending on your CD writer will take from 3 hours to 9 hours to burn.

If you have that much to back up, why not just buy a cheap USB external hard-drive. I picked up a 80gb one about a year ago for about 80 quid. (instead of buying software and discs)

I'd go with Pie Eater on this one. Good suggestion and probably a lot easier than having to periodically backup to CDs.

Alternatively, if you have a spare partition on a drive, stick it on there, if keeping it safe but on the same PC is not a problem...

Or why not just go all out and get a DVD burner? You'll only need 3 discs.

Downloaded demo of Nero 6 and made a backup 14 CDs.
Thanks again everyone for your help.
Could you please tell me how to execute the files I made backups of in Nero 6.

    Thanks Again,

Depending on how you created the files in Nero, they should just be double-clickable to restore (as long as the PC you are restoring them to has Nero installed as well)

Open to correction here tho ...

I cant tell what files are on each disk as the names are compressed. Is there anyway I can view the complete filenames of each backup disk I made in Nero 6.

    Thanks again,
