I haven't found general servicing and parts etc. to be too bad at all (even when water pump went) as long as you avoid main dealers. I belong to a 7 series forum and there's always plenty of help/recommendations from there. I have a Mk II satnav unit in my beast and so all I have to do is replace the unit in the boot to a Mk IV (which will be dvd). As I said, these are around £400 on ebay. I don't use satnav much; I'm pretty good at finding my way and always print off a local road map anyway to take with me.

Waaaay to technical for me ! :p

Cost includes just over 2 hours to diagnose problem then there's parts and vat so all in not too bad. Garage I'm using is 15 quid (ex-vat) more than my regular one but then they hadn't been able to find the problem.

Anyway, least it's not a new ecu or something major on the engine.

Should have it back today if the part's in so will be looking forward to giving it a blast later
