    Hi,

Just started out validating my skills. I've been a technician for nearly 20 years and my City & Guilds qualification of 15 years ago is out of date.

Nice site here, helped me out already in finding a test centre locally in Norwich where I live.:D

    I'm looking to do MCDST 70-271 & 70-272 (at break neck speed:eek:)

Any advice on Course material would be welcome & anything else come that!

    Welcome to CF!:)

Im using the MSpress books for it, they seem to be rated highly here. Sybex ones are another alternative.

    Glad you like it here.

Like Raffaz has already said the MSPress & Sybex books are two that are highly rated :)

Go thru them and then try out an exam sim like Transcender, etc to see how you get on with them :)

If your not that big into reading from a book all the time, you could also try CBT Nuggets. These are video tutorials if you havent seen them before.

Welcome to the forum mate 8)

You might also want to consider the CompTia certs such as A+ and Net+ these are good solid foundation courses which are globally recognised and do not expire.

I wish somebody had given me that advice when I started, because as much as one thinks they know lots from practical experience, there are always going to be gaps in your knowledge, these entry level certs help fill those gaps and thus prevent confusion setting in further down the line.

I used the Sybex fast pass book for referance

Kaplan self test practice test & U Certify self test practice.
I did a self test, researched anything I didn't know or got wrong, then did another test & so on.

The sybex book contains a CD with practice questions, I used that as well.

    I'm a bit chuffed as I scored 850 on essentials & 865 on the 602
    technicians.

uC has a history of forum spamming. :x I haven't been able to verify whether they're a braindump or not - they certainly price them similarly, and they offer a bunch of questions as braindumps usually do, but I have no knowledge to confirm or deny whether they are or not.
