Depends on what CIW modules you want to do. My favourites are any in the Sams Teach yourself series (especialy TCP/IP, Perl, Apache 2.). I would also recomend the "Absolute begginers guide to" series. These will help introduce topics. Then you should think about the O'Reilly series. You should also be aware that the CIW website (find it from google), has the books for sale that are especialy for the exams, although they are not cheep (but massively cheeper than paying tutor companies).
The CIW books from the CIW site are what a tutor company would provide you with anyway. The only difference is that with a company, you are suppost to recieve help by phone or a dedicated web site, but in my experience, this help is not much good.

There's some good advice there from everyone, but to really learn a bit about Skills train. Type the word SkillsTrain in the search option on the forum. You will find there are people out there who are in the same situation as you and have the same burning questions.

It's upto you what you want to do with your life, but please raed these comments on CF before parting with any money!
