Hi from West Wales

    Hi Folks

    12 - 15 years within IT mainly in the Document mangement industry but after a (stress) break for a couple of years I'm now IT Admin for a company in West Wales.

    I work alone in my own self managed department and am trying to bring the company up to date as it was using littel more than a home network running around 30 clients.

    Most things are going ok but I'm now bringing everyone onto Outlook and getting VPN set up for our remote workers which is giving me a bit of a headache.

    I'm doing an MCSE but there is nowhere in Wales that I can do the exams so I will not bother.

    There's an IT skills shortage in Wales.....not surprising really!!

    I'm quite happy learning as I go along and contributing to any forums I subscribe to.

    Nice one, I'm not that far from Gorseinon and the college there does the exams.

    Strangely I contacted the ITWales people who are supposed to know these things but came up with nothing, in fact they were worse than usless.

    Do not fear, the IT industry in Wales is buzzing. The only people who seem unaware of this are the Welsh assembly, ITWales, the job centre and all the people who should know better...

    I blame Torchwood.
