Been awhile since I last logged on so thought I'd post something, how is everyone? I've been real busy tbh, mainly training in the gym, working like a slave and just general family man stuff. I did get a promotion a few months back also and I am now help manage the IT Help desk which has its pros and cons.

I fell out with the love of certs many moons ago so have pretty much stopped all forms of studying and pretty much just learn on the job as it suits me better.

    Hope everyone is doing well!

Hiya Juelz, glad you're doing well. Are you happy in your role or do you have your sights on something else? Changing roles can often be where certs can help to boost your knowledge.

I'm good thank you, similar, moved into pre-sales at VMware a few months back so it's been really busy for me. Similar I've only had a look at certs that i'll do but not had time to make a start. I will likely only do VMware certification from now on as we get it all paid for which is good.

You are doing a lot better than me on the fitness front. I need to get a grip of mine big time, definitely gone up a dress size

Hi mate good to hear you are doing well! I'd say I'm happy in the role although still getting used to managing people. Not really got my sights set on anything work wise, I'm fairly happy with what I'm doing right now.

I kind of shifted my mentality towards work in all honesty.. I'm now about living life and just enjoying my free time, admittedly not being very career focused and seeing it as a means to an end. Main focus is the gym!

That's good to hear mate, on all fronts, health is wealth as they say.

I think a lot of us have changed our outlook during this pandemic haven't we. I'm 42 now so while I love my work, I'm increasingly thinking about what I really want to do with my life. When I might retire, how I'll get there, all of these sorts of things

I think that is something people often forget about when they ask what are the advantages of gaining certification. Often when people are doing the certs they are really dedicated and focused on work and when I am hiring people its not a deal breaker if they have certs or not but if they do or are in the process of getting them it says to me they really are interested in their work and invest their own time and money its not just a 9-5 thing so I expect they will work hard and not just go through the motions then go home.
