I've just finished uni with a degree in maths but computing is the field i'm actually interested in.

I think i'm going to start out by getting a CCNA and then see where i go from there.

    Later!

    Hi Rosa,

Welcome. Well done on the degree! Have you thought about looking at Network+ designed by Comptia? Even if you didn't want to take the exam it would be a great start for the CCNA.
    Best of luck.

Cheers for the advice boyce. I'd actually never heard of CompTIA before i joined this forum and i've seen it about alot since. I was wondering if they were the same sort of thing, and judging from your comment i'm guessing the network+ one is less detailed (or the ccna is more hardcore 8) )

I've started my ccna intro already so i'm probably just going to stick with that, plus i'm quite comfortable with networks already as i've been a sys admin for a couple of years.

Anyone willing to confirm my thoughts about network+ and ccna? Is it worth getting a ccna then a network+

I've also set my eyes on the linux+ :D

    Rosa,

I have looked very quickly over CCNA content and it is more to do with Cisco equipment whereas N+ isn't vendor specifc.
In my eyes N+ is a broader, good foundation networking course where people probably go on to say CCNA.

As for Linux+, well i would love too. I would recommend a dummies book on linux first.
So much to do so little time! :blink
Let me know what you decide.
