    Hi everyone,

i've been 'lurking' on the forums for a while now, and thought it was time to introduce myself...

Earlier this year I took a Cisco ICND course, but didn't sit the exam as I hadn't done the official INTRO course or exam. So i'm now working through the CiscoPress set of books in preparation of taking the exam (some point this year..)

When I was Googling for info etc. on the CCNA I stumbled across this site and have now decided to try some of the Comptia exams..

I've worked in networks for about 18months now, having started literally from scratch; didn't know what a subnet was, never heard of the OSI reference model, etc. etc..

    so, that's me..

Hi all. Am in mid 40s so am a 'mature student'. Just passed CompTIA A+ and N+. Not sure why I bothered! Looking on job sites, can't see anything that asks for those qualifications. All seem to be MCSE and CCNA. Should I have bothered and is the MCSE the best route??

    Welcome to CF HMSpresident 8)

Cockney jeff, you have highjacked somebody's thread here - it's always best to start your own thread if you are going to ask a specific question.

However, the A+ and N+ are the perfect base to build any further study on and doing either the CCNA or the MCSA/E without them is a mistake IMHO.

The right route for you depends on your experience and future goals, so there isn't a one size fits all answer to that.
