    :)

Well just registered and wanted to say hi to u all.

Basically I am looking to make a career change atm from Stockbroking to IT.

I live in Glasgow and I am 32 yrs old.

I have decided to start off with the CompTIA A+ certification.

Over the past few years I have taught myself how to build a pc, install OS and software and debug. I have built/upgraded 5 pc's and "fixed" several others ( all friends and family's). It is something I really enjoy and I am looking to make a career change.

I haven't decided which route to go after A+ - either Cisco or MCSA/E or Server 03.

I would like a bit of advice on where to sit the A+ exam (preferably in Glasgow but I would be willing to travel further).

So no doubt you will be seeing several posts from me as I start this new journey.

    Kula.

Hi Kula - first of all a warm welsome to CertForums :) There will plenty more replies and welcomes, I can assure you..

You don't need to look any further than Glasgow to sit the A+ . I use Learning IT in the Ca'd'oro Building on Gordon Street (I think) - it's a chip wrapper's throw from the Taxi rank outside Central Station (tho there are other Test Centres around the City - that is my favourite).

For more info have a look at the VUE website. Gives you a full list of all centres worldwide, so you should find something to suit

Hope that helps, and speak soon :D

    Thx for the welcome m8.

Yeah that was one of the places a friend directed me towards. I checked out their website but I couldn't find any information about sitting exams seperately from the courses ( perhaps I was just being thick and looking in the wrong place).

I will give them a phone tomorrow and see what they say.

The main problem I have is that I will be continuting to work fulltime in the Market and studying in my own time. I have used up most of my holiday entitlement for this year (only got 3 days left i think).

    Thx for your advice. :)
