Just a heads up guys, not made the news yet but have been told it will by BT.

Exchange in mayfair has been vandalised and is affecting a lot of lines up that way.

have been told it might be a couple of days outage.

Interesting... I've not seen any info from BT (I am in the telco world and normally get notifications of outages.)

I'll keep a lookout for this.

Was advised that cables and network cards had been ripped out and then burnt, they gave me an estimated fix time of 2 days.

yep. our London office is down at the moment too. Apparently they cant give any proper estimates as to timescales to anyone, or prioritise anyone over and above others, because they dont know which card is which until its configured.

We have been re-routed via Ilford, however we are currently experiencing 50% packet loss.

I dont know what they will be to do with the gear, its probably going to be a bit too specialized for ebay or the local pub :)

Is this a new trend with neds\chavs smashing up telephone exhanges? Happened a few weeks ago in one of the Glasgow exchanges.

It was the wire, copper...... Copper is worth a lot on the scrap market at the moment.

Plumbers and builders love to sell your old pipes and cylinders at the moment.
