i aint seen the film, but were these guys "high"?
...anyway how can you make a film realistic? i have never done any hacking, cuz i dont know how to, even if i did, would the actual intereface of Nmap be interesting to the viewers? doubt it... at the end of the day they have to use some kinda of visual to show what the hack is doing, or am i just talking nonsense?

...but the most bizarre one i seen were Hackers... ...one that made some sense was Matrix, where they had the 00111010101001010 on the screen, most people kinda know its down to binary numbers... is it?

Mmmmm Well life in Hollywood is never real is it?

Most films today are all special effects and no story line.
Is it binary code they use or... :blink

true, the "new" star wars being a fine example. i love The Simpsons where they send that up!

but war games is a big fave of mine, and Gav, my Dad sat me through 2001.... reminded me of the time he made me eat a plate of boiled cabbage....

    'nuff said methinks? :tongue

Are you saying you don't like it? What's wrong with cabbage? Or 2001 for that matter! It's a masterpiece. Awesome book too. Shame about the sequels...

Great film but first time I saw it HAL's voice terrified me, it was just so calm and sinister

ok maybe i'm thinking about a different film here or getting my childhood memories mixed up.

just had a look on amazon though and it looks the same. is it full of big musical scores and astronauts mincing about doing nothing?

that is what i remember and hence , the cabbage........

That's kind of like summing up Apocalypse Now as a guy going on a boat trip and not getting up to much. There's so much more to it than that.

Well, it may just be my opinion, but I'm glad some of you have the decency to realise what a stunning film 2001 was (cabbage or no cabbage). 10 past 8 (the sequel) was pretty good as well, but not quite a match, imho. Monkey, I know you're being more than a touch tongue in cheek - blokes and lightbulbs ain't rocket science - it was the interaction between them that was intense. Sheer genius by Clarke and Kubrick. :D

By the way, whilst writing this, I found a neat little link that explains 2001 HERE. Get the sub-woofer plugged in !! :biggrin

And Juice - it makes sense now :respct

Blow me sideways if that isn't an awsome little link. It occurred to me while watching it that the film's lack of narrative means there are a lot of things left unexplained when compared to the book. It's definitely worth a read. I want to go and watch the film now...

ok, ok i definitely had way too short an attention span as a kid, and obviously watched just the 3 minute long scene of floating and breathing!

that link is very interesting and intriguing gav and i really want to watch it now.

i retract my cabbage remark from earlier, though may use it again for things that are nasty. :tongue

Does anybody remember a film with Jude Law and Kiefer Sullivan.
It was similiar to matrix, except their world look like it was set in the 1950's. With Kiefer Sullivan playing a scientist, injecting people while the world had stopped?

I'm having problems getting into IMDB, it's shown on my Windows bar but I can't maximize the window?
