I stumbled across this post whilst researching other information and I thought it was so good that I would share it with you all.

Whirlpool is an Australian site but the info there has much in common with anywhere in the world. The page I have linked to contains good information on many aspects of ADSL. It covers hardware, firewalls, wireless, security, uPNP, SNMP, surge protection etc etc.
