    Well done mate. Sounds like they might have a framework similar to our place where you get paid more when you pass certain Certs pertaining to your role. You'll understand then why I've been battering my exams all year ha ha With regards to your exams, as he says in fight club . . "we now have corporate sponsorship" :D:twisted:

    This sounds a bit suss to me as an employer cant give a bad reference. Also this shows what a pointless exercise the whole interview process is as a word from a previously employer that has (allegedly!) bad mouthed the guy so that makes everything else null and void. :rolleyes: Whoever they spoke to may not have wanted the chap to leave so therefore tried to make things difficult for him.

    Anyways the job does sound great mate but make sure you get everything down in writing before handing in your notice. :thumbleft

    Cheers all for the congratulations.

    As for the above, I found out some more details. It turns out that he wasn't currently employed, and so was immediately available. When the company contacted his previous employer/s they noted that he had a horrible attendance record, so whilst the reference may have been quite neutral, it was this that meant the job offer was withdrawn.

    Sounded quite fair to me. They're going to have to wait four weeks (from today!) to get me though.

    Offer letter received this morning and I've handed in my resignation now too. 8)
