I've decided to try and get this exam done as the missus is expecting our first child in Novemeber and want to pass it before all the sreaming starts.

From what I've read are the best books to use the MS study book and Sybex. I loved the sybex books on A+ and Network+ but on Amazon.com the reviews aren't very good for this book. Anyone read it and is it worth buying.

I also read that WSUS isn't covered in any books and I need to source material on that from elsewhere I take it Microsoft's website is the place to be for this.

    Cheers in Advance

    Michael

    Hello Slypie,

Snap! My missus is also expecting, but she is due in 1 wks time, so any day now basically :blink kinda scary! But good luck to you when it comes!

I have just finished 70-290, passed on Tuesday with a score of 785, found it really difficult, and from reading the posts, the 70-291 is known as "The Beast" - so it doesnt fill me with glee.

I have the MS Press Book for this one but I think its the first edition as i had a quick skim through it and there is no mention on WSUS, i have heard that a lot of wsus comes up in the exam, can anyone recommend good literature that covers the subject? I dont wanna get too bogged down in lots of different books...2/3 max.

    Thanks everyone
    Sven

Cheers mate and good luck with your little one when it makes an appearance. I've heard that this one is the pain. I've also heard that none of the books have WSUS in them (maybe Microsoft added it late on in the exams???). I like Sybex books but I'm put off by the bad reviews on Amazon.com's website and I find MS books a little too dry and hard to read due to me having an attention span of a goldfish.

Cheers! I'm sure it will be great when the little one gets here, tiring but all worth it :D best of luck when yours comes also!

I'm the same, I dont mind the MS Press books too much, but I always feel that they tell you what happens in the MS Ideal World and not our world.

Sybex are pretty good, but like all these books, they send you to sleep! And thats a fact!

for some reason my little girl likes thumbing through all my techy books (weirdo), at least you will be able to settle a screaming baby by a little warm milk and a couple of pages of bedtime RIS installs, and baby will be sleeping like a log!

I found the Sybex book pretty good for this exam. Can't remember if it had much on WSUS or not though.

To be honest, having a good play around with WSUS in a test lab would be enough IMO. Have a poke around technet for further reading. I don't think a whole book on WSUS is warranted personally, but if you have never used it before, possibly.

There were a high proportion of WSUS questions on my 291 considering it's barely mentioned in the objectives so it is definitely something worth knowing about. Shame MS don't share this really ...

Cheers Zimbo for the links, to be honest, I have just started reading the ms press book for 291, and i can feel my eyes starting to bleed already  maybe i should give myself a break from all the study and start fresh in a few weeks time.

I have a feeling that new baby is going to take up all my time (for the next 16 years!!)...I find it strange tha wsus is covered so much in the actual exam but hardly any mention in the MS Press books, in the 70-290 exam I wasnt asked any sus questions at all, which i was surprised about.

    Thanks guys

    Sven
