Anybody been watching this TV series or read the book?

I've started reading the book but have also been quite tempted to just watch it instead....

After reading The Deathly Hallows (the latest Harry Potter one) and also seeing it, I came to the conclusion that books are waaaaaaaaaaay better. You can get so much more from a book; that's why I've been holding off watching Game of Thrones.

Sean Bean plays the main character (in the TV series, obviously :P )

The books are one of the best fantasy series I've read in a good few years, shame George Martin has been dragging his heels writing the remaining tomes.

The tv series has done the first book justice, although a few scenes, mainly battles, have been truncated, if you do like the series I'd advise reading the books too as it will fill it out, glad to see they stuck very very close to the storyline in the books vs Legend of the Seeker which really was a "based on" the Sword of Truth series. Talking about that, just coming to the close of book three Phoenix.

I've read the first book and near the end of the second. the TV series does do it justice, but as always does not explain bits as clearly as if you are reading them. There are a lot of characters to keep a track of and it jumps about a bit.

Got both books of part 3 and can't wait to get started.

I've read the first book (on ma kindle, in Australia :biggrin). It's pretty good to be honest. I have the second, but reading other stuff at the moment.

Glad to see you getting into the reading on the Kindle Phoenix. It's a lot of fun.

Been watching this on sky, really enjoying it, like how they are doing 10 eps a season rather than string it out over more.

Really tempted to buy the books as i can't really wait for season 2 to air.

    Winter is coming!

I started the first book but didn't really get into it.
Not really my sort of thing.
But then I hated reading Lord of the Rings too, although there's no doubting it's an epic story.

Supernatural main fictional show I watch, yes its a bit gay in parts, but gotta love a show with a muscle car, rock soundtrack and monsters.

I started building up the episodes for this on Sky+ and then decided I would read the book first. Quite enjoyed the first and second book and thought the TV series was quite faithful. It did feel like it was an abridged version at times though.
