function keys not working

    I am trying to install windows xp pro, when i get to the licencing agrement to agree you have to press f8 but some reason this is not responding or does it take a while to respond? once pressed

    It should respond straight away.

    Are you using a USB Keyboard? if so has it initialised in the BIOS?
    As you are only in the process of installing windows, windows won't have detected the usb and installed the usb drivers yet, so it is all dependent on the BIOS at this stage.

    Try using A PS/2 Keyboard and see if that works.

    I am using a ps2 keyboard and some of the functions responded fine when i was in the bios setup

    Hmmm, strange. I have never seen this before with a PS/2 keyboard, I'm assuming that you have restarted the PC and tried again?

    You could try disconnecting the mouse aswell, just incase there is an issue between the keyboard and mouse.

    i have disconnected the mouse and i have tried again the F8 button is not doing a thing when pressed

    yeah, i did and now it os working fine,,,,doh what a dummy i am :rolleyes:
