Managed to get FreeNX to work today
FreeNX is sort of like a free verstion of Citrix for X Server
its the open sourced version of no machines nxserver, which is the commercial product
basically it allows for a full X desktop over very slow links (as slow as 9k on a GSM modem) or individual X applications (X is a much more powerful client server GUI system than windows explorer)

Here is a quick screenshot of my progress, not muc htere yet as i actually had to install a WM to try this out (my server is usually headless)

    Oooo Linux on Windows!

pretty chuffed i got it to work, took a while to emerge all the packages (gentoo) but configuration was rather easy to be honest!

Interesting looking stuff there, Phoenix. I passed it along to someone else who was wanting to do something like this on another forum and couldn't get what he was trying to work. We'll see if he's as good as you are.... :dry
