Unfortunatly the subscription price can't be done at present so I think I'll just have to buy lots of books with the trial versions in them, I'll need those books at some point anyway so I may aswell kill two birds with one stone :blink

The trial version should be enough for now anyway mate. Remember you can download other software (such as WSUS) for free which is required for the 70-291.

All of the other stuff I get with the action pack (eg ISA and SQL server) I just use for my own learning and I haven’t used it for any certs as yet. 8)

    Sounds like a plan :)

If I use server 2003 as the host can I use another server OS like 2005 with or only operating systems? and can I link them all as if it were a network?

That should be fine, all of the OSs can talk to each other ok in a domain environment. 8)

I think I had to patch SBS to get Vista onto the domain but nothing major.

Once you get further into your studies you will see that a Windows domain can run in a certain functionality mode. Basically if you leave it as default all the OSs can talk to each other however you don’t have all the Server 2003 DC features. You can increase the functionality level but this means you can’t add a 2k DC to the domain, no problem adding a *member* server though. 8)

I get mine from the action pack at the moment but I'm looking to change to the technet direct plus subscription just to get away from those courses that you have to do.
