Modey is correct, that is what I meant.

So Should be fine with the cpu and flash the BIOS before I install anything?

    cool

Then again I might go with the idea modey came up with and buy a new mobo which supports everything at the moment.

If you do that then your going to have to spend more money just to get the very latest mobo, when you could save money and just flash it. You also would have to worry about all the little bugs that the newest mobos suffer from.

The one he was going to buy was damn expensive anyway Raf, so cost obviously isn't an issue. :)

Wasn't it about £140 quid or something like that? That's expensive in my book when you can get some really good performers / overclocking boards for about £75.00 quid.

I'm just going for newer stuff really. I suppose it's more money for newer components.

Well it's still a hell of a lot for a mobo in my opinion. Most companies to non deluxe versions with essentially the same features, but they take off the extra 35 usb ports and 12 NIC's. :) There should be no problem ever getting a mobo for less than a ton with the latest chipset on it really.

    That's about what I usually spend on a mobo: $150 (£75).

We have to pay VAT here so a mobo costing about £107 like the P5k Premium is around £75 with VAT added (i think)

the cpu will probably work but no gurentees, when i used to review new hardware i remember getting the first intel dual core in and that wouldnt even display until i flashed the bios using an older cpu.

you'd be suprised what flashing the latest bios can do and the bugs it can fix, its why it should always be the first thing you do with a new mobo.

a word of advice read the read me file on flashing the bios, then read it again and then a third time, theres nothing more annoying than a mobo with a dead bios :(
